![]() I don't like the side effects, but I will tolerate them if it means not having to deal with constant inattention. Vyvanse wasn't helping enough, so just recently I switched back to strattera. I then went on a low dose of vyvanse (my psychiatrist didn't want to prescribe anything other than the lowest dose for fear of exacerbating my anxiety, but more importantly, to avoid the appetite suppression for fear of causing a relapse of my anorexia, which had nearly killed me a year earlier). I started with strattera, but stopped it after a month due to side effects. After getting the anxiety under control, they finally made the diagnosis. My psychologist and psychiatrist had waited to make the diagnosis, since they wanted to see if my inattention and constant fidgeting was the result of ADHD or of untreated anxiety. The plan is for me to try going off of abilify in the near future to see if I still need it.Īfter getting on a stable dose of medication to control my anxiety, I was also diagnosed with ADHD. I tried a bunch of different antidepressants for anxiety, augmented by different atypical antipsychotics, until I finally found the combination of zoloft and abilify, which works well. I was diagnosed with and treated for anxiety long before getting the ADHD diagnosis, because my anxiety is much more severe. Is anyone on such a combo? Did you switch to a non-stim and still find yourself benefiting from the effects? Any other info? I know it sounds counterproductive, but the Concerta helps my anxiety far more than it exacerbates it. I can't find any information online about taking an anti-anxiety with a stimulant. I'm an engineering student and I just can't function without my Concerta. So here's the thing: I need my ADHD meds. I'm tired of being uncomfortable in my own body and I don't want to turn into an alcoholic or pot head again. I feel like I need to get my anxiety under control though. I have no self control, shocking I know.Īnyway, I really want to cut that out of my life (or at least significantly cut down for the future). As many of you have probably experienced it works great at first but, eventually it gets out of hand. Until recently I'd still been supplementing with some cannabis. My anxiety is definitely magnified in the first few days, but it seems to help a lot after I'm on it for a week. Was a total shock but makes sense now and explained my inclination towards a certain smokeable plant. At the same time though, I was diagnosed with general and social anxiety. I was diagnosed pretty late in life (22) but always felt I has ADHD. Tl dr: Is a stimulant + anti-anxiety combo a thing?
